May 2020 Commencement Postponed

Per an email sent to all students by President Moudgil, the May 9, 2020 Commencement Ceremony will be postponed until December 5, 2020.  All students that graduate in May or Summer are welcome to attend the December 5, 2020 ceremony.  The Graduation Team will be reaching out to all students impacted by the postponed ceremony to encourage you to attend the ceremony in December.  Expect to be contacted by the Graduation Team in early September for this confirmation. 

Students that complete their degree requirements in May or Summer semesters will still have their degree posted and diploma mailed by the schedule below:

May 2020 graduates:
Degree posted by – June 19, 2020
Diplomas mailed by – July 6, 2020
Degree verifications for employment can be completed starting June 1, 2020.  

Summer 2020 graduates:
Degree posted by – August 21, 2020
Diplomas mailed by – September 21, 2020
Degree verifications for employment can be completed starting August 10, 2020. 

Graduation Dates and Deadlines

Students have to apply to graduate the semester BEFORE they expect to complete their program.
Failure to submit an application by the deadline will result in a one semester delay in your degree or certificate being awarded.

Fall (December) July 15
(e.g., Fall 2020 graduates must petition by July 15, 2020)
Spring (May) December 15
(e.g., Spring 2020 graduates must petition by December 15, 2019)

Summer (July)

December 15
(e.g., Summer 2020 graduates walking in Commencement must petition by December 15, 2019)

April 15
(e.g., Summer 2020 graduates NOT attending Commencement must petition by April 15, 2020)


Graduation Dates

The graduation date that is printed on transcripts and diplomas is always the last date of the semester in which the student is graduating.

Academic Year 2019-2020

Fall Term - December 19, 2019
Spring Term - May 15, 2020*
Summer Term - July 24, 2020

*On March 11, 2020, Lawrence Technological University made a change to their Spring semester term dates.  The semester was extended by one calendar week due to Coronavirus precautions the University implemented.



Diplomas are available for pick up at the One Stop Center approximately one month after the traditional semester ends. Diplomas which are not retrieved during the pick up dates will be mailed to your permanent home address as listed in BannerWebIf your address will be different after graduation, please be sure to update your information on BannerWeb before the end of your final semester.

Doctoral diplomas are printed with the assistance of an outside company, therefore delays are possible due to shipping.

Please Note: Diplomas will not be released if you have any past due financial obligations (housing charges, library fees, parking, tuition, etc.)
