After taking a year off due to the pandemic, it was back to form for Lawrence Technological University at the 28th Intelligent Ground Vehicle Competition (IGVC), held Friday through Monday, June 4-7, at Oakland University in Rochester. LTU took first place in the Self-Drive Challenge, one of two competitions at the IGVC.
The Centrepolis Accelerator at Lawrence Technological University has been awarded $197,985 in grant funding to provide regional Industry 4.0 programming and services to increase manufacturers’ readiness to adopt Industry 4.0 technologies.

Lawrence Technological University celebrated the gift of a second Gem e2 electric vehicle in an outdoor ceremony Tuesday at the university’s Southfield campus. The university’s computer science program has turned the two-seat car into a second autonomous vehicle research platform for students to learn to develop software for the self-driving cars of the future.
Lawrence Technological University will become the new home of the Specs Howard School of Media Arts. Specs Howard has offered courses in radio and television broadcasting, graphic design, and digital media arts since 1970, and has graduated more than15,000 alumni in these fields.
Trent Schmitz, 23, graduated from Lawrence Technological University May 8 with a Master of Architecture degree, a requirement for licensing as a professional architect. And sometime in the next few weeks, Schmitz, of Southfield, will become the youngest licensed architect in the state of Michigan, and possibly the youngest in the country.
