Rouge River clean-up scheduled for May 15

Friends of the Rouge will hold its annual river clean-up event on Saturday, May 15. During the Rouge Rescue event, volunteers from all over southeast Michigan come together at numerous work sites to restore a clean and healthy Rouge River environment.

LTU's Staff Senate Community Outreach Committee is hosting a clean-up event at the Rouge River branch on campus. On May 15, 9 a.m. to noon, volunteers will pick up trash along the river banks at the south end of campus.

Wear clothes you don’t mind getting dirty, preferably long sleeves and pants to avoid injury. Please wear sturdy closed-toed shoes, and bring your own bug repellent and sunscreen.

Gloves, trash bags, and light snacks will be provided, as well as a water bottle refill station for your reusable water bottles.

The deadline for story submissions is 6 pm on the Thursday before publication.

Students may contact their organization's advisor or the Dean of Students to facilitate eNews submissions.
