In the Faculty/Staff vs. Students Flag Football game played Thursday evening under the lights at Southfield Lathrup High School, the students came out on top, 36-6.

Kevin Finn led the faculty/staff team at quarterback. Scott Schneider was a defensive specialist and contributed a critical sack. Steve Brown led the offensive line. Mary Pinkowski scored on the first drive of the game for the faculty/staff team, but the over-the-hill gang couldn’t find the scoreboard again.

Marcus Simon was a standout at wide receiver for the students’ team and Jad El-Zir completed over 80 per cent of his passes at quarterback. Their first play of the evening was an 80-yard touchdown pass.

In the Blue vs. White Powder Puff football game also played at Southfield Lathrup High School, the White Team prevailed, 19-12. Alex Bryden helped lead the White Team to victory with her performance, while Kate Watson had a great game for the Blue Team.

The White Team was coached by Mary Pinkowski and student coaches Javon Hunter, Kyle Converse, and Jaleel Graham. The Blue Team was coached by Lisa Kujawa and student coaches Matt Polhemus, George Grzywacz, and Jeremy Nafus.

Josh Lance was the top student in the Homecoming Four Mile Race on Saturday with a time of 24:47, for a 6:12 per mile average.

Josie Queary was the top female student in the Homecoming Four Mile Race with a time of 29:14, for a 7:18 per mile average.

Josh Lance kept his weekend going on Sunday when he won the third annual LTU Disc Golf Tournament with a score of four below par. The tournament was completely organized by student Bart Kowalewski and had around 20 student participants.

LTU raised $607 for breast cancer research at Wednesday’s volleyball pink-out game. When combined with the race on Saturday morning, the total cam to more than $1,250 for breast cancer research through Dean Hsiao-Ping Moore’s laboratories in the College of Arts and Sciences.

Finally, our attendance between the two Homecoming soccer games totaled 700 for Saturday.
