LTU is already one of five recipients of a $20,000 2016 Ford C3 grant for its project, House02, in partnership with Habitat for Humanity Oakland County. It's now competing for another $10,000 to expand the project.
During the last three years, LTU architecture graduate students have worked with Habitat for Humanity of Oakland County, property shareholders and community partners in and around Detroit to develop a more efficient, sustainable and affordable building delivery system. The approach that has resulted from this effort brings together the efficiencies of pre-engineered and traditional construction with those offered by emerging processes, including digital fabrication and energy modeling, and sustainable materials.
The first home, House01, will be completed in the spring of 2017. The second iteration of the work, House02, which is already supported through the initial Ford C3 grant and our growing list of community partners, will be completed in the fall of 2017.
