LTU one of Forbes' 'Top Colleges'

Release Date: September 8, 2022

Lawrence Technological University has been named one of “America’s Top Colleges,” according to Forbes magazine. LTU is No. 1 among the universities in the three-county Metro Detroit area for highest alumni salaries at a median of $119,900, 10 years after graduation.

“This ranking is more confirmation that an education at Lawrence Tech is a wise investment,” said LTU President Tarek M. Sobh. “Whether it is Forbes, U.S. News & World Report, The Princeton Review, or many others, LTU is highly regarded as a good return on investment. We are the creative, innovative university of tomorrow and prepare students who will be technologically savvy, interdisciplinary-trained, and flexible enough to succeed in job titles that have not yet been invented.”

According to its website, Forbes bases its listings on universities that “offer an excellent education at a great price, graduate high earners, and propel students to become successful entrepreneurs and influential leaders in their fields.” Forbes uses data from federal government databases, PayScale, public policy think tank Third Way, the National Center for Science and Engineering Statistics, and other sources to tabulate the rankings.

Additional factors considered were: alumni salaries, student debt, return on investment, graduation rate, retention rate, academic success based on students winning prestigious academic awards, and membership of alumni on the Forbes American Leaders List.

Lawrence Technological University is one of only 13 private, technological, comprehensive doctoral universities in the United States. Located in Southfield, Mich., LTU was founded in 1932, and offers more than 100 programs through its Colleges of Architecture and Design, Arts and Sciences, Business and Information Technology, and Engineering. PayScale lists Lawrence Tech among the nation’s top 11 percent of universities for alumni salaries. Forbes and The Wall Street Journal rank LTU among the nation’s top 10 percent. U.S. News and World Report lists it in the top tier of best in the Midwest colleges. Students benefit from small class sizes and a real-world, hands-on, “theory and practice” education with an emphasis on leadership. Activities on Lawrence Tech’s 107-acre campus include more than 60 student organizations and NAIA varsity sports.
