Construction is continuing on a new synthetic turf athletic field at Lawrence Technological University in Southfield, at the intersection of Ten Mile Road and Northwestern Highway, the part of LTU’s campus known as the Point.
Lawrence Tech hired The Collaborative architecture firm of Ann Arbor to draw plans for the field with Frank Rewold & Son Inc. managing the construction at the Point. The materials being used for the field are manufactured by AstroTurf LLC.
The new turf field is Phase 1 of a three-phase project. This phase will add artificial turf, fencing, and a larger parking lot for up to 40 cars at the Point. Future phases will add lights for nighttime events, permanent stands, and a concession and restroom building.
