LTU introduces new Career Development Institute, offering continuing education for working adults

SOUTHFIELD, Mich. – Lawrence Technological University will offer a new series of courses and workshops for working adults in a newly created Career Development Institute.

“In today’s economy, getting and staying ahead means embracing the concept of becoming a lifelong learner,” Lawrence Tech President Virinder Moudgil said. “These courses, and more that will follow, will help working adults stay abreast of the latest trends in a wide variety of career paths, and explore the latest technologies in their fields. We will also offer courses that help adults make career changes into rapidly growing technical fields.”

Courses and workshops offered are to include:

  • A one-day workshop on cybersecurity taught by experts from LTU’s College of Business and Information Technology. The workshop will be offered Nov. 17, Jan. 19, April 27, and June 1.
  • Workshops in pavement management and mechanistic pavement design. The workshops are intended for recent transportation engineering graduates, entry and mid-level municipal engineers, transportation engineers, transportation maintenance supervisors, airport engineers, and facility maintenance supervisors.
  • OSHA training for construction or general industry. A 10-hour program is designed for entry-level or professional staff in construction, building development, repair, alternations, and other fields. A 30-hour course is designed for supervisors. The class will be offered in October, December, March, and June.
  • Professional development workshops for K-12 educators on a variety of topics, including modern media, design and technology, active and collaborative pedagogy in STEM classes, hands-on science classes, and product development and design. The workshops will be offered on weekends from March through June.
