Associate Professor Ahad Ali of the A. Leon Linton Department of Mechanical Engineering at Lawrence Technological University organized a tour of the Chrysler Jefferson North Assembly Plant where the Jeep Grand Cherokee and Dodge Durango are produced.

Visiting from LTU were Ali, the director of the manufacturing systems and industrial engineering graduate programs, and Hayder Zghair, a doctorate candidate in manufacturing systems.

Ali organized the tour to discuss how automotive manufacturing systems are organized at the plant. “This visit was very valuable for our understanding of the issues and challenges associated with automotive manufacturing,” Ali said.

“This firsthand experience of automotive production systems helps me relate theory and practice and it will help me a lot for my doctoral dissertation,” Zghair said.
