Military Advanced Education (MAE) has named Lawrence Technological University to its list of top schools in the country in its 2015 Guide to Colleges & Universities, which measures best practices in military and veteran education. This guide is available online at www.mae-kmi.com.
From community colleges to state universities, online universities and nationally known centers of higher learning, MAE’s 2015 Guide to Colleges & Universities provides students with information about institutions that go out of their way to give back to our men and women in uniform.
Institutions of higher learning were evaluated on their military culture, financial aid, flexibility, on-campus support and online support services. Each school’s performance rating by category is represented by an easy-to-recognize dashboard.
“We believe the Guide serves as an invaluable tool for both education services officers and transition officers when advising service members about their educational opportunities,” said MAE Editor Kelly Fodel. “We used strict criteria to individually evaluate the submissions of respondents, and we had a record number of schools participating this year.”
The Guide listed the following highlights for LTU:
• LTU is certified for the GI Bill and participates in the Yellow Ribbon program, two federal initiatives that help reduce the cost of college for veterans.
• LTU is a member of the Service members Opportunity Colleges Consortium, a group that works to simplify credit transfers and give veterans credit for military training.
• LTU offers a 15 percent tuition discount to all active, inactive, reserve, and retired military.
• LTU provides the services of a veterans affairs coordinator who helps veterans navigate the government paperwork and admissions and registration process.
