LTU hosting 800+ high school students in DECA business competition Dec. 14
Lawrence Technological University will host the 2018 DECA High School District Competition on Friday, Dec. 14. The university will host more than 800 students from 21 Oakland County high schools in competitive presentations and educational exercises in marketing, business, finance, leadership, and entrepreneurship competency areas.
Competitions will be held throughout the university’s Southfield campus from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. The event is sponsored by LTU’s College of Business and Information Technology (CoBIT).
The event offers networking opportunities for the students to interact with faculty, administrators, CoBIT advisory board members, and LTU alumni.
DECA, formerly the Distributive Education Clubs of America, is a not-for-profit career and technical student organization with more than 215,000 members in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Guam, and Puerto Rico, as well as Canada, China, Germany, Mexico, and Spain. Founded in 1946, DECA prepares future leaders and entrepreneurs in marketing, finance, hospitality, and management in high schools and colleges around the world.
