It’s Homecoming Week at Lawrence Technological University – which will end Saturday, Oct. 13 with the university’s first-ever Homecoming football game, as the undefeated first-year Blue Devils take on Indiana Wesleyan University.

Numerous student events are scheduled for the week, including a grilled cheese cook-off and game day sign contest Tuesday, and an ice cream social and powderpuff football game Thursday.

There’s also a men’s soccer game Wednesday against Rochester College at 7 p.m. under the LTU stadium’s newly installed lights.

Thursday features one of the university’s major annual academic events, the 2018 President’s Symposium. This year’s symposium is a timely examination of the issues surrounding future transportation, including autonomous vehicles, connected vehicles, and accessible mobility for all. The event will be moderated by 1987 LTU graduate Kirk Steudle, director of the Michigan Department of Transportation, who has recently announced his retirement. The President’s Symposium starts at 7 p.m. in the Mary E. Marburger Science and Engineering Auditorium, Room S100 of LTU’s Science Building (see www.ltu.edu/map).

Friday will see a noon concert by the Blue Devil Marching Band and a performance by the LTU Dance Team on the campus quadrangle, and a 6 p.m. dance team fashion show to raise money for breast cancer research. A Homecoming bonfire and pep rally will be held at 7 p.m. at LTU’s Don Ridler Field House, followed by Midnight Madness, the kickoff of the LTU men’s and women’s basketball season.

Homecoming Day Saturday begins with a Blue Goes Pink 5-kilometer run and 1-mile walk for breast cancer awareness at 8:30 a.m., a pregame tailgate in LTU Parking Lot A from 8 a.m. to noon, and the annual Jubilee Brunch to honor LTU graduates of 50 or more years ago at 9 a.m.

The football game featuring 5-0 Lawrence Tech against Indiana Wesleyan starts at noon.

Homecoming week concludes with a concert on the LTU quad featuring S-Curve Records / BMG recording artists We The Kings, starting at 7:30 p.m.
