LTU BME at the Academy of Surgery of Detroit's Winter Innovation Event.

Release Date: February 7, 2020
The Academy of Surgery of Detroit held their Winter Innovation Event at the Henry Ford Innovation Institute this week. LTU's BME Department came to represent and mingle during this evening devoted to bridging the gap between technology and medicine through communication and idea exchange. The Academy's goal is to provide the opportunity for physicians to give feedback directly to these startups as they work to develop their products. This "customer discovery" interaction is a vital part of the development process for every company. Dr. Hao Jiang and Prof. John Peponis met with various start-ups in the biomedical field displaying many exciting new innovations ranging from a novel tissue imaging software, a diabetic ulcer treatment leg brace, to a machine-learning patient monitoring system.
