Ahmed Aljabr, a doctoral candidate in manufacturing systems engineering at Lawrence Technological University, was recognized by the Royal Embassy of Saudi Arabia and the Saudi Arabian Cultural Mission in Washington, DC, in May. He was honored for being an advocate for Saudi students at Lawrence Tech and elsewhere in the United States.
He has served as president of the Saudi Student Union at Lawrence Tech and as president of the Arab American Association of Engineers and Architects. He is president of the Saudi chapter of the Industrial Engineering and Operations Management Society and is a board member of the Smart Manufacturing Research Group associated with LTU’s College of Engineering. He is active in many engineering organizations and serves as an adviser to the Saudi Student Union at LTU.
The May event was a celebration of the graduation of 16,000 Saudi students attending universities across the United States. Almost 150,000 Saudi students are studying in the country thanks to a Saudi scholarship program that encourages study abroad. The United states remains the preferred destination for Saudi students studying abroad.
