LTU students to fight leukemia with Sept. 6 volleyball tournament



College students in the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity at Lawrence Technological University are raising money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society with the 27th annual charitable Volleyball Blast tournament on Saturday, Sept. 6, at 10 a.m.

The tournament will be held on LTU’s athletic fields with parking on either side of the campus (see In case of rain accompanied by lightning, the tournament will be moved to LTU’s Ridler Field House. Volleyball Blast is open to everyone, and teams can begin signing in at 9 a.m.

Teams can register at Registration, which is $15 per player or $90 per team of six in advance, includes a T-shirt and a BBQ meal ticket. Registration on the day of the event is $20 per person. For questions, contact Travis McCall at

Members of the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity have volunteered at the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s Light the Night Walk for the past five years. Last November the fraternity hosted a bone marrow registry drive to help leukemia patients. Watch TV coverage at
