Ronald Jasgur

President, Woodward Asset Capital in Southfield. Jasgur has more than 20 years of financial, operations, and business development experience in the real estate industry. He is also the founder of discount real estate brokerage Homesource, Realtors. Jasgur founded Woodward Asset Capital in 2007 with two partners as a bulk purchaser of foreclosed real estate assets from banks but transformed the company into a fast-growing technology service provider that continues to evolve with offerings for the mortgage and real estate industries. It began when the firm found significant holes in their vendor's foreclosure sales processes that couldn't be solved with available technologies. In 2009, Woodward Asset launched, a proprietary sales negotiation tool for banks to better sell distressed assets. The technology immediately transitioned the firm from a buyer and seller of real estate to software provider and consultant to banks and mortgage servicers. With three-year revenue growth of 142 percent and 2011 revenue of $2.5 million, Woodward Asset Capital was named to the 2012 Inc. 5,000. Under Jasgur's leadership, the company launched in 2012, which was awarded the Release of the Year by Mortgage Technology magazine. In the same year, Mortgage Technology also named Woodward Asset Capital a Top 50 Service Provider in the mortgage space. Jasgur has served on multiple committees of the Greater Metropolitan Association of Realtors and is a former director of the Western Wayne Oakland County Association of Realtors.

WHERE BORN: “Detroit.”

MOST INFLUENTIAL PERSONS: “Everything I learned about business, I learned from my dad. I used to go to work with him every Saturday morning and watch cartoons in his office. He taught me about business at an early age. He was not afraid to listen to his gut and take risks even when people told him it was a bad idea.”

LAST BOOK READ: “I just finished a book from Jonathan Tropper – One Last Thing Before I Go.”

WORDS THAT DESCRIBE ME: “I'm known as the idea guy; ethical, articulate, sarcastic, creative, a little funny, and maybe a little intelligent.”

WHERE MY FIELD/INDUSTRY IS HEADED: “Our company is entrenched in two similar but distinctly different industries – real estate and mortgages. Both have changed more in the past five years than in all of history. There's a perfect tsunami of data, technology, and analytics. We're finally going to get to the point where a home buyer will have the same type of transaction as someone buying a car or computer. It's different now because a house is somewhere that you have to go to, it's not movable; but we're going to get to the point where you can purchase it as easily as something that does move.”

FAVORITE TECHNOLOGICAL GADGET: “My smartphone. I can handle business anywhere in the world with a device that fits in my pocket.”

FAVORITE PLACE: “At home on my couch with my wife and kids watching Dexter on a Sunday evening.”

FAVORITE HOBBIES: “Live music and sporting events. I attend a lot of concerts.”

FAVORITE FOOD: “Without a doubt popcorn, although I do love a good filet with zip sauce.”

MY HIDDEN TALENT: “I rock at name that tune – or even better, name that artist.”

HOW I WANT TO BE REMEMBERED: “As a guy who took pleasure that his ideas and advice made a positive impact on the people around him. Also, a devoted husband, father – and grandfather at some point.”
