JOB TITLE:  Enrollment Services Associate I
HIRING SUPERVISOR: University Registrar

SUMMARY: The Enrollment Services Associate I position will serve as one of the individuals responsible for providing the front line service to our constituents within the Lawrence Tech DTE One Stop Center for Enrollment Services. This individual will communicate all information to our constituents in the LTU student service philosophy; assist and counsel students with financial aid, registration, and student accounting transactions and resolve student application/data errors and issues remotely at the One Stop Center. Working Commencement and New Student Convocation is mandatory.

Responsible for interpreting and explaining Financial Aid, Registrar, and Student Accounting policies, procedures, and systems to students and parents.

Responsible for resolving problems, errors, and exception requests related to each home office, respectively (Office of Financial Aid, Office of the Registrar, and the Student Accounting Office).

Responsible for providing cashiering services and for distributing, explaining, collecting, and processing forms and documents related to the financial aid and records/registration process.

Responsible for reviewing and recommending new and/or changes to existing services, policies, procedures, and schedules.

Attend regular scheduled weekly meetings with the Home Office (i.e., Office of Financial Aid, Student Accounting, Office of the Registrar) to gather & exchange information with other Enrollment Service Associates and Staff Assistants for Student Services.

Attend conferences and training workshops as required.

Completes basic enrollment verification requests, including but not limited to degree and/or enrollment verifications for employers and loan deferment forms.

Assist with completion and interpretation of FAFSA.

Analyze and provide explanation of financial aid award eligibility.

Explain academic policies and procedures to students.

Provide explanation of award variances related to Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP), enrollment status, need assessment and analysis, Return to Title IV, loan criteria, student employment and time keeping, family financial special conditions, and fund availability.

Collect and review for accuracy financial aid, registration and student accounting forms (tracking) submitted at One Stop Center.

Monitor and assess accuracy of student system data on a regular basis.

Advise students on VA benefits, ROTC, and Michigan National Guard programs.

Update students on legislative status of State funding (Michigan Tuition Grant, Michigan Competitive Scholarship, Tuition Incentive Program, and campus based funds)

Explain academic policies and procedures to students.

Analyze and provide explanation of student transfer credit/University transcript/credit.

Analyze and provide explanation of student status related to graduation, change of major, guest credit request, tuition appeal requests, minor/concentration requests, and transcript requests.

Complete student registration, drop/add/withdrawal transactions.

Complete student personal information updates.

Responsible for accurate posting of payment and deposits to student accounts.

Interact with students to research and investigate student account issues. Must be able to decipher and troubleshoot student financial related issues including Financial Aid postings and award packages and issues related to enrollment services.

Balance and close out daily cash and credit card transactions.

Must follow the Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) as well as all other confidentiality related issues.

Provide student with enrollment management information from other student service departments (i.e., admissions qualifications, housing/meal plan information, academic advising resources, Computer Help Desk, parking stickers, ID, laptops, student activities (current campus events). Maintain and update reference manuals and identify and request additional training.

Explain the use of BannerWeb and all of its functions to students to enable them to conduct their transactions online.

Develop and maintain working knowledge of all relevant Banner forms which relate to student interactions and transactions.

Answer telephone; answer telephone inquiries; direct telephone calls and answer emails for enrollment services.

Release and place various registration and accounts receivable holds on student accounts.

Serve as a follow-up for those students who have not paid their balance; contact students by telephone to make payment arrangements and referral to financial counselor and follow-up for current students not enrolled.

Serve as back up for the Data Processing Center by being trained on and completed (as needed) the following functions:

Produce student verification letters and transcripts.
Post credit to student transcripts.
Process curriculum changes and related materials in Banner.
Enter address and name changes in Banner.
Update course equivalences in Banner.
Articulate transfer evaluations in Banner.
Key nondisclosure and parental requests in Banner.
Apply credit to transcript for guest and additional credit requests. Record dismissals, revokes and re-admits in Banner.
Assist with recruiting, admissions, orientation, graduation, open house and other office related events. This includes some evening and weekend events.
Perform other tasks as may be assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:  Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university; or one or two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
