JOB DUTIES: Roles and responsibilities: The College of Arts and Sciences (CoAS) is seeking applications from current, tenured faculty for the position of Chair, Department of Natural Sciences (DNS). Reporting directly to the Dean, the Chair of DNS will be an integral and essential part of the college’s academic leadership team. The Chair will work collaboratively and proactively with College and University leadership, faculty, staff, and students; partners with other academic units across campus and with external stakeholders to advance the mission and goals of the DNS, CoAS, and LTU. The Chair will build upon the department and college’s legacy of excellence in teaching, research, and service. The incumbent must be a leader with exemplary record of teaching, research, service, and professional engagement, a strong, demonstrable commitment to integrity, diversity and inclusion, effective academic administration, and successful mentorship and professional development of faculty, staff, and students.

MINIMUM QUALFICATIONS: Candidates within any discipline within the DNS are encouraged to apply. The ideal candidate will have a terminal degree in the field, is a tenured Associate Professor or Professor (or will be tenured at the time of appointment), and has a strong record of accomplishments in teaching, scholarship, and service, in addition to the items mentioned above under Roles and Responsibilities. Start date is negotiable but cannot be later than July 1, 2022. Compensation is commensurate with experience.
