Lawrence Technological University, a renowned pioneer in the “theory and practice” mode of education, is seeking a didactic faculty member (tenure-track or non-tenure track) to be a part of the newly established master’s degree in physician assistant studies. The first cohort of students is expected to be admitted in Fall 2022. The PA program will complement the existing Nursing program and is a part of growing emphasis on health-related academic programs at LTU. Roles and responsibilities: The Assistant Professor position (tenure-track) has a tripartite responsibility: pedagogy, research and scholarship, and service. Pedagogy includes teaching, advising, and mentoring of physician assistant students in classroom, clinical, and other settings. The candidate is expected to maintain an active research/scholarship agenda involving clinical and/or academic research, publish scholarly papers in peer-reviewed journals, and seek external funding to support research. For service, the faculty will serve on committees, actively assist in the admission and selection process, program organization and development, assessment, planning, administration, and management, and other duties as assigned. The candidate will participate in continuous review and analysis of the program’s effectiveness in preparation for program assessment by accreditation bodies and others. Non-tenure track positions include all of the above except for research and scholarship.
Qualifications: The successful candidate will have an earned M.S. in physician assistant studies or equivalent from an accredited physician assistant training program and certification by NCCPA. Current licensure or eligibility for Michigan licensure is required. A minimum of two or more years of full-time clinical experience as a physician assistant is required but five or more years is strongly preferred. Additionally, a demonstrable interest in pedagogy (teaching experience in the classroom and/or clinical setting in an institution of higher learning) and research and scholarship (clinical or academic) is required. Candidates with program administrative, accreditation or other related experience are preferred. Excellent organizational, oral and written communication skills and collaborative skills are required.
