JOB DUTIES: The Department of Biomedical Engineering invites applications for the position of Senior Lecturer/Project Engineer. This is a hybrid position requiring significant self-motivation and interaction with the BME chair, faculty, students, and staff to further our academic and applied courses and projects in a dynamic and expanding environment.
Teaching duties will vary by semester, typically involving lower introductory level courses or lab courses over the broad range of our offerings. With the initial assistance of our faculty, these potentially include programming, bioinstrumention, biomechanics, and biomaterials.
Project engineer duties will entail preparation and maintenance of equipment in wet labs as well as labs related to cell culture, instrumentation, fabrication and/or motion capture. The successful candidate will provide proper laboratory safety and training, as well as maintain ordering, documentation, and organization. Specialized tasks may include building test equipment, fixtures, and procedures to ensure reliability and validity of data collection processes.
QUALIFICATIONS: Qualified applicants must have a master’s degree in Biomedical Engineering (BME) or a related field, and a minimum of one year undergraduate teaching and engineering lab managing experience. Major responsibilities include teaching BME undergraduate courses, managing labs, assisting undergraduate projects, and coordinating various outreach activities
