A tenure track assistant professor position in geotechnical engineering is available starting as early as August 2019 at Lawrence Technological University (LTU). Lawrence Tech is strategically located in the largest engineering market in Michigan, with opportunities for faculty involvement with local consulting engineering firms and government agencies. Applicants should have a B.S. degree in civil engineering and an earned doctorate with specialization in geotechnical engineering. We seek applicants with strong background in both theoretical and/or experimental aspects of geotechnical engineering, and are interested in applying their skills to innovative, multi-disciplinary research problems. Candidates with practical geotechnical engineering experience in ground modification, geosynthetics, geoenvironmental and environmental bioremediation as well as possessing professional licensure are highly desirable. The department offers state-of–the-art facilities for research in a variety of areas including the $11 million Center for Innovative Materials Research (CIMR).
The successful candidate will work closely with faculty within the Department of Civil and Architectural Engineering. In addition to teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in geotechnical engineering, other responsibilities include taking a leading role as the geotechnical engineering curriculum coordinator for the civil engineering program. Successful candidates are expected to attract funded research, participate in graduate/undergraduate student advising and perform services beneficial to the University. Candidates are expected to have a strong teaching background with a teaching philosophy that matches well with the strategic plan of the University and are also expected to work closely with LTU’s eLearning Services to develop graduate engineering online courses.
QUALIFICATIONS: An earned doctorate in Civil Engineering or a closely related field.
