Cancellations

Any student wishing to cancel their housing application/contract, must submit a Contract Cancellation Request form to the Office of University Housing, C404, or via email to housing@ltu.edu. All cancellation requests must be approved by the Director of Residence Life.

If your cancellation is approved during the semester, you are required to move out within 48 hours of notification of approval, or by move out deadline.

Any uncommunicated delays or improper checkouts may result in fines and possible Student Code of Conduct violations.

Any cancellation after June 1st will result in the forfeiture of the housing deposit.

Meal Plans cancelled after the second week of classes will not be refunded.

If you wish to cancel before the second week of classes, you will be charged for what you have used of your meal plan.

Application Fee Refund Policy

When students apply to live in University Housing for the first time, they must submit a $250 housing application fee. This fee becomes your housing deposit.

Any new student applying for housing who decides not to attend Lawrence Tech or live in University Housing will get a full refund of their application fee if they cancel their housing application/contract by July 31st. Any cancellations received after August 1st will forfeit the $250 application fee.

Current students who apply for housing during Housing Renewal and now wish to cancel their housing, will get a full refund of their application fee if they cancel their housing application/contract by July 31st. Any cancellations received after August 1st will forfeit the $250 application fee.

Any current student who previously applied for housing and paid the $200 or $250 application fee does not need to pay the fee again unless they cancelled their housing contract and were not returning.

100% refund and $250 housing deposit refunded

August 1st - August 21st 100% refund and forfeit $250 housing deposit
August 22nd - 28th  95% refund with a $500 cancellation fee* and forfeit deposit
August 29th - September 4th 90% refund with a $500 cancellation fee and forfeit deposit
September 5th - 11th 80% refund with a $500 cancellation fee and forfeit deposit
September 12th - 18th 70% refund with a $500 cancellation fee and forfeit deposit
September 19th - 25th 60% refund with a $500 cancellation fee and forfeit deposit
September 26th - October 2nd 50 % refund with a $500 cancellation fee and forfeit deposit
After October 3rd

No refund with a $500 cancellation fee and forfeit deposit

Spring 2023

Cancellations before the first day of classes

100% refund with a $500 cancellation fee and forfeit deposit

January 9th - 15th 95% refund with a $500 cancellation fee and forfeit deposit
January 16th - 22nd 90% refund with a $500 cancellation fee and forfeit deposit
January 23rd - 29th 80% refund with a $500 cancellation fee and forfeit deposit
January 30th - February 5th 70% refund with a $500 cancellation fee and forfeit deposit
February 6th - 12th 60% refund with a $500 cancellation fee and forfeit deposit
February 13th - 19th 50 % refund with a $500 cancellation fee and forfeit deposit
After February 20th

No refund with a $500 cancellation fee and forfeit deposit
