Students design, fabricate, assemble, test, and race a formula racing style hybrid vehicle in a competition against other student engineering teams from around the world.
LTU incorporated the Formula Electric competition into its engineering curriculum as a year-long senior design project during the Fall 2009 semester.
The project provides students a unique opportunity to combine the University's signature blend of theory and practice with the challenge of a real-world problem: creating a high-performance racing vehicle that is also fuel-efficient.
The LTU Formula Electric team has placed second in the world twice in it's history, out-performing teams from much larger universities.
