Steven Rost is Department Chair of Art and Design and professor in the College of Architecture and Design, where he has been teaching for nearly 33 years. His teaching responsibilities include Foundation/Basic Design, Photography, Sculpture, Portfolio Design and Senior Thesis for the Graphic Design and Interaction Design majors. He is co-author, along with Harold Linton and Laura Cleary, of the book entitled “Marketing for Architects and Designers,” published by W. W. Norton and Co. He also has contributed to the book “Portfolio Design,” also published by W. W. Norton and co-written by Harold Linton. He recently contributed photographs for the book Digital Vernacular, Architectural Principles, Tools and Processes (Routledge 2015).
Steven also is a practicing artist and shows his photography and sculpture in the Detroit area. His work is included in the collection of Cranbrook Academy of Art Museum and the Detroit Institute of Arts amongst many private collection worldwide. Steven’s work has recently been exhibited in Shenzhen China (September 2015) and Paris France August (2014) along with local Detroit community exhibition spaces.
Steven is a graduate of Cranbrook Academy of Art (MFA 1982), University of Denver (BSBA 1975) and attended Minneapolis College of Art and Design (1978/80).
