Dr. Tao Liu
Dr. Liu is a tenure-track assistant professor in the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science. He received his PhD in electrical and computer engineering from Florida International University in 2020. He earned his BS in Computer Science from Southeast University in 2007 and a MS in Computer Engineering from Florida International University in 2012. Before Joining Lawrence Tech, Dr. Liu was a research associate in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Lehigh University and had more than six years of full-time industry experience in software development and data analytics.
His current research focus is at the intersection of the algorithm, architecture, and security aspects of deep learning, neuromorphic computing, machine learning system design, and their applications in embedded, IoT, and autonomous systems. His research works have been published and presented at top-tier conferences and journals across Machine Learning, Electronic Design Automation (EDA), Hardware Security and Cybersecurity, etc., including DAC, CVPR, ICCAD, ASP-DAC, ACSAC, HOST, WiSec, TCAD, JTEC, etc. Dr. Liu received the best paper nominations from ICCAD 2018, ASP-DAC 2018. He was also the recipient of the DAC 2017 Richard Newton Young Student Fellow Award and ACM ICCAD 2017 Student Research Competition (SRC) Award.
