Loretta Woodard
Humanities, Social Sciences, and Communication
Adjunct Faculty
A native of North Carolina, Woodard has taught at several academic institutions and served as an educator and mentor for over four decades. More recently she was hired at Lawrence Technical University, where she has taught Basic Composition, College Composition, and World Masterpieces. 
Woodard has a Ph. D. in English from Bowling Green State University, where she was the graduate assistant to the former, prolific, award-winning author, essayist, playwright and short fiction writer James Baldwin. She also has a M.S. in English from North Carolina A&T State University, and a B.A. in English from Saint Augustine’s College. 
A couple of honors and awards include: 
Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers, The Spirit of Detroit Award, and Outstanding Community Service Award. 
Though teaching is Woodard’s first love, she also enjoys traveling. Some of her favorite places include Aruba, Brazil, Croatia, Dominican Republic, Dubai, Egypt, England, France, Italy, Japan, Korea, Spain and South Africa.
