Yu (Tony) Zhang
Tony Zhang is an Assistant Professor of Accounting and Finance in the College of Business and Information Technology. Dr. Zhang’s primary teaching interests are financial accounting and managerial accounting. Other teaching experiences include accounting information system, federal income tax, corporate finance, and financial institutions. Since 2015, he has successfully sponsored 10 students to receive the Certified Management Accountant Scholarship.
Dr. Zhang’s major research interest is to study the impact of managerial political spending on firm’s financial reporting quality. His research works are published in different academic journals, including Review of Quantitative Finance and Accounting, Pacific Basin Financial Markets and Policies, Asia-Pacific Journal of Accounting & Economics, and Review of Economics & Finance, etc. He also presents his working papers at some international conferences, e.g. American Accounting Association Annual Meeting, Canadian Academic Accounting Association Annual Conference, and European Accounting Association Annual Congress. His research currently focuses on the information content of earning conference calls.
Dr. Zhang received his Ph.D. in Accounting from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Prior to that, he obtained his Bachelor of Commerce and Master of Science degree, both in Finance from Concordia University, Canada.
