Beth Swantek
Beth is a journalist with almost 35 years working in media-related fields. A graduate of Michigan State University, she began her career as an on-air television reporter and anchor at the CBS affiliate TV9&10 in northern Michigan. She spent several years reporting on breaking criminal, medical and political news.
In subsequent years, she served as editor and writer for a nonprofit news publication in Dallas as well as developing and writing all their related marketing materials. At the same time, she anchored news at a Dallas television station and produced an award-winning documentary filmed in India and Thailand.
More recently Beth blogged and wrote news for the website Asbestos.com and since 2005 has worked as a writer, producer and director for MCCI, a Detroit-based video production company.
She is currently working on her graduate degree and has taught at Lawrence Tech since 2011.
She is married to Phil Swantek who also teaches in the Media Communications department and the couple have three grown children and reside in Royal Oak.
