Kevin Walsh

Kevin earned an MA in English from Oakland University and his BA in English from the University of Notre Dame where he also worked in media productions. For 28 years he taught language arts and video productions in Royal Oak, West Bloomfield and Southfield Public Schools and also served four years as Humanities Chair for the University of Phoenix’s Detroit Campus and two years as Director of Marketing and Enrollment at the Motion Picture Institute film school in Troy. His textbook Video Direct was published in 2006 and is in use by high school media production programs in over 40 states.

In 2013 Kevin began his freelance videography/photography, live-streaming MMD Productions LLC and has worked with clients in professional theater, churches, industry, education and non-profits. He is proud to serve as board officer and festival director for the 501c3 Digital Arts Film and Television’s Michigan Student Film Festival--the longest running student film festival in the country. He also is a longtime auxiliary board member for the DIA’s Detroit Film Theatre auxiliary. In 2013 he created the podcast and blog MyMediaDiary which has been visited over 175,000 visitors and has been featured regularly in Huffington Post and he is the creator and producer of the 18-episode historical documentary series Digging Detroit which has been featured on television and is featured in exhibits at the Detroit Public Library, the Yankee Air Museum and the William F. Banks Museum of Broadcasting.
