Wendy Perkinson

Professor Perkinson earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Eastern Michigan University in Communication and Theater Arts. Currently, Professor Perkinson is studying to earn her doctoral degree in Global Leadership and Change at Pepperdine University.

Professor Perkinson has a proven record of successfully teaching in higher education for 30 years.  She is gifted in maintaining an engaging class atmosphere with students in the face-to-face and virtual environments. Professor Perkinson is an inclusive instructor who allows students to be acknowledged and heard in fostering a student-centered class. Professor Perkinson’s expertise in higher education includes teaching Public Speaking, Technical Writing, Small Group Communication, Leadership in Communication, Interpersonal and Intercultural Communication. Professor Perkinson has also worked in higher education as an academic advisor and as an academic mentor. Professor Perkinson brings her diverse higher educational background and her real-world practical corporate experiences into the classroom.

In the corporate sector, Professor Perkinson spent ten years on an IT leadership team as a certified Instructional Designer at a health care organization where she worked on a team with software designers and analyst. She developed custom technological curriculum for the hospital’s professional business and clinical staff. Professor Perkinson has also spent many years as a corporate trainer, national training consultant, success skills workshop facilitator and professional motivational speaker. She serves in her church’s television ministry, and she has participated in performing arts (dance, choreographer, theater) throughout her lifetime. Professor Perkinson is married, with two adult sons and a dog named Blue. 

As an adjunct professor, she has taught in the communications departments of many schools including Central Michigan University, Eastern Michigan University, University of Michigan Dearborn, and Wayne State University. Professor Perkinson is delighted to teach on the adjunct staff at Lawrence Technical University because she enjoys the highly intelligent student population and the unique “family oriented” LTU staff.
