Dr. Yifei Ma earned his BS and MS degrees in Structural Engineering from Tsinghua University, Beijing, China, and Tongji University, Shanghai, China, respectively. Shortly after graduation, he joined the geosystems group at Georgia Institute of Technology and earned his PhD degree specialized in geomechanics. Prior to joining Lawrence Tech, Dr. Ma worked for two years as a postdoc in the School of Civil and Construction Engineering at the Oregon State University in Corvallis. Dr. Ma has a strong research interest in the development of numerical techniques and computational models for geotechnical engineering applications. Emphasis is placed on the static and dynamic properties of soils/rocks, theoretical and computational geomechanics, multiphysics and multiscale problems in energy recovery, granular flow, safety and reliability of infrastructures, and machine-geomaterial interactions.
