Kayla Bottrell Harteg
Kayla is the assistant director of the Academic Achievement Center. Kayla assists with daily program operations, coordinates the LTU Scholars and CAMPUS Connections programs, conducts academic and study skills workshops, and meets individually with students to create and maintain academic success plans.
Before becoming the assistant director of the AAC in December 2018, Kayla worked as a career services advisor in the Office of Career Services at LTU. Prior to arriving at LTU in 2017, Kayla served as a graduate research assistant, an academic advisor working with transfer students, and a site coordinator for a youth development program, among other roles.
Kayla earned her bachelor's degree in Political Science with a minor in Environmental Studies from Grand Valley State University and her master's in Educational Leadership with a concentration in higher education and student affairs from Western Michigan University. She is currently a doctoral candidate, working on her PhD in educational leadership with a concentration in higher education at Central Michigan University.
In addition to serving LTU students, Kayla enjoys spending time with her husband, Charlie, their pets, family, and friends. She also likes attending concerts and outdoor festivals, traveling to new places, and just being outside on a nice day.
