Christopher Stefani

Christopher L. Stefani is the Executive Director of External Academic Initiatives (EAI) at Lawrence Technological University. Prior to this role, Stefani served as the Director of EAI for the College of Architecture and Design (2021-2022), Associate Director of the Detroit Center for Design + Technology (2017-2021) and Assistant Director of the DCDT (2015-2017).  

Stefani works collaboratively across the University to curate and manage partnerships with corporate and community organizations in order to build K-12 outreach education programs, industry sponsored projects and courses and professional development programs – amongst others. In his work Stefani employs design-thinking principles and iterative ideation processes to build programming that serves its audience in a sustainable and beneficial way.

In 2020, he was named one of Crain’s 20 in Their Twenties for his work building educational programming for underserved youth. He also served as an adjunct faculty member in the College of Architecture and Design with teaching areas including explorative design thinking, basic and introductory design processes and interior design. 

In 2016, Stefani established his own practice, The C.L. Stefani Company, in Detroit. This multidisciplinary design group creates and curates teams to collaborate on a variety of projects – past work includes LTU’s former Detroit Center for Design + Technology (DCDT), The Farmer’s Hand, FOLK (2018 Commerce Design Award Winner), Gaelic League of Detroit and private residences.

In 2015, Stefani earned his SEED certification under the direction of Brian Bell of Harvard University.

Stefani has served on various boards and charitable organizations; some include the Interior Design Coalition for Change (2022 – Present), Henry Ford Early Middle College Advisory Board (2020 – Present), USGBC Market Leadership Advisory Board (2021-2022), AIA National Associates Committee (2018-2020) and AIA Michigan Board of Directors (2018-2020).

He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Architecture + Interior Architecture in 2014 and a Master of Architecture degree with a focus on architectural education in impoverished communities in 2016 from Lawrence Technological University.

Stefani was born, and continues to reside, in Metro-Detroit.
