Dr. Elin Jensen joined the Civil Engineering Department at Lawrence Technological University in the summer of 2003. She earned a Master of Science in Civil Engineering from Aalborg University, in Aalborg, Denmark, and a Ph.D. degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Michigan, in Ann Arbor.

Her research interests are in infrastructure systems and materials, particularly in the areas of concrete mechanics and durability, concrete pavements; as well as the use of Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymers as reinforcement in concrete bridge structures. She also has strong interest in performance based design for structural fire safety. Her area of research is on the response of structural concrete to natural fires with focus on the damage accumulation due to the combined effect of loading and high temperatures.

Dr. Jensen's institutional service includes serving as the Director of the Civil Engineering Graduate Programs, engineering representative on the Faculty Senate and the Research Support Services Committee, and faculty advisor to the American Society of Civil Engineering Student Competition Teams. Professionally, Dr. Jensen was recently appointed Chair (2009) of the American Concrete Institute, ACI Committee 215, Fatigue of Concrete and a member of other technical committees. She is also active in the International Society for Concrete Pavements (ISCP) and has served as Chair of Student Competition, B.F. McCullough Award.
