John Davis is the Chief Engineer for the North American Product line at Ford Motor Company. He has been an active advisory board member since 2008. He is seen above providing product feedback to technology students after their final presentation.

The Engineering Technology Industrial Advisory Board (ET-IAB) is a panel of leaders from various disciplines. The goal of the industrial advisory board is to assist the Technology Department with program development and upgrades. The ET-IAB offers their industry expertise to the program development process, ensuring that all programs meet industry standards and provide students with courses necessary to prepare them for lasting careers as engineering technologist. The ET-IAB meets twice a years with the department to discuss trends in industry and program assessment. Additionally, the ET-IAB members evaluate the final senior projects presentation, providing students with suggestion on product improvements, manufacturing techniques, marketing, and distribution ideas.

John Davis, Chief Program Engineer, North American Product Programs, Ford Motor Company
John Davis has overall responsibility for two new vehicle programs in Ford Motor Company’s global small car portfolio. Davis reports jointly to the Executive Director of North American Product Programs and to the global C-Car Vehicle Line Director, Ford of Europe.
Davis has held this role since April 2009, building on his more than 20 year career at Ford. Prior to his current position, Davis held various key engineering leadership roles including Assistant Chief Engineer of Ford's F-Series Super Duty, Program Manager for North American Truck, SUV and Commercial Vehicles, and also Platform Engineering Manager as part of the company's Advanced Product Creation department.
Davis has spent a majority of his career in both vehicle engineering and product planning positions. He previously was responsible for development of Ford's Blue Oval DNA, interpreting the unique brand character from customer emotion to vehicle engineering metrics, and accountability for implementing this DNA across Ford's product line-up. Davis also spent several years in a variety of management positions for the Ford Explorer sport utility vehicle line. He was responsible for overall vehicle engineering on the all new Explorer Sport Trac sport utility truck, introduced in 2006, as well as vehicle integration for the new Explorer, introduced in 2005. Additionally, Davis served as Plant Vehicle Manager at the St. Louis Assembly Plant, Missouri, overseeing vehicle quality, on-site product and manufacturing process engineering for the Explorer, Mercury Mountaineer and Lincoln Aviator products.
Davis's early career included development of strategic plans for Ford's global product portfolio, serving as a senior analyst and manager in a variety of areas for product safety, regulatory compliance planning, fuel economy and powertrain plans development for the company.
Davis joined Ford in 1989 in the College Graduate Program for engineering in the Light Truck Product Development division in Dearborn, Michigan. He holds a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Illinois, and a master's degree in Engineering Management from Wayne State University.
Davis has served on the Lawrence Technological University's ABET Industrial Advisory Board since 2008.
Sherri K. Fountain, SPHR
Sherri K. Fountain, SPHR serves as Vice President and Manager of Human Resources for Soil and Materials Engineers, Inc., a 200-person consulting engineering firm specializing in the geosciences, materials and the environment. Ms. Fountain graduated with honors with a B.A. in English Literature from the University of Kentucky in 1980. While there, she was elected to serve as president of Mortar Board honor society, was selected to membership in Phi Beta Kappa, and served as chief editor of the University of Kentucky’s literary magazine.
Ms. Fountain has 30 years of experience in Human Resources management, strategic planning and program design related in the following areas: recruiting and employment; workforce planning, development and performance management; benefits and total rewards; wage and salary administration; and employee relations and communications. In January, 2008 Ms. Fountain obtained certification as a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) from the Human Resources Certification Institute. She is a member of the Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM), the world’s largest professional association devoted to human resource management, and is also a member of the Human Resources Association of Greater Detroit (HRAGD) and the Greater Ann Arbor Society for Human Resource Management (GAASHRM). For five (5) years, she previously served as Chairperson for the Human Resources Management Committee for the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC).
Michael has 24 years of experience in the electrical construction industry. He has held positions as a Journeyman Electrician, Superintendent, Project Manager and as a Vice President/Owner. Mike is currently the Manager of Business Development for Shaw Electric Company. Shaw is considered a leader in its segment of NECA Electrical Contractors in Southeastern Michigan, Shaw offers specialized services in new construction, renovations, maintenance, and design build work. Shaw’s business is structured to meet the individual needs of a wide variety of clients, including Hospitals, Water Treatment Plants, Waste Water Treatment Plants, Automotive, Power Plants and Larger Commercial Facilities. He completed his Associates in Science in Electrical Technology as well as his Bachelor of Science in Engineering Technology at LTU. He has 2 professional licenses, which are; Master Electrician License #6209711 and City of Detroit Electrical Contractor #LIC2001-02151
John M. Halan
John M. Halan has been practicing with the intellectual property law firm of Brooks Kushman P.C. since 1990, where he has been a shareholder for many years.
As a litigator, he specializes in high-stakes intellectual property litigation, including patent,trade secret, and related commercial litigation. He has tried many cases as lead or assistant trial counsel and has also successfully argued before the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit In addition to litigation, John has negotiated and prepared numerous intellectual property and commercial agreements, including licenses. He has also prepared many infringement and validity patent opinions and has been called upon to act as a patent dispute mediator. He is the head of the firm’s trade secrets group and manages the firm’s marketing. As a licensed professional engineer, prior to attending law school and joining Brooks Kushman, John managed a number of industrial construction projects from initial design through to completion.
John Khalaf is currently employed by Optrex America as a Field Application Engineer. He works with automotive customers to satisfy their Liquid Crystal Display requirements. He has enjoyed working in the Electronics industry for over 30 years in Research and Development in the manufacturing sector.
John is also a graduate of LTU. He successfully completed his Associate in Electronic Engineering Technology in 1979 and his Bachelor of Science in Technologies in 1989.
Kimberly Light, Admissions Counselor, Lawrence Tech University
Kim has worked for Lawrence Tech for three years in the university’s admissions office. She has worked with the Engineering Technology department, in an advising capacity, at the Lansing University Center. Kim helped establish and maintain the Engineering Technology student population at the University Center and has a strong understanding of the curriculum and interactions at the student level.
Kim is currently completing her masters in environmental sciences that the University of Michigan-Dearborn and looks forward teaching at the collegiate level.
Bob R. Powell, Research Scientist, General Motors Research & Development Center
Dr. Powell has been a research scientist at the General Motors Research & Development Center for thirty-two years. He is currently a GM Technical Fellow. His research interests are the development of advanced, light weight metals and casting processes. In his years at GM he has also work on emission catalysis, ceramic superconductors, ceramic engine components, and most recently advanced magnesium and aluminum alloys for powertrain applications.
Dr. Powell earned his B.S. in Ceramic Science at Alfred University and his M.S. and Ph.D. in Materials Science at the University of California at Berkeley. He served in the US Army Corp of Engineers. He is active in professional societies (The Metallurgical Society (TMS), the Materials Research Society, and the American Foundry Society). He is the recipient of the TMS 2001 Magnesium Technology Award and the TMS Light Metals Division Technology Award. He received the General Motors 2003 John Campbell Award for his fundamental studies of creep deformation of magnesium. He has 19 US patents, 54 technical publications, and 83 technical presentations.
He is also active in the Thomas Wolfe Society as Treasurer (since 1995) and as reviewer for The Thomas Wolfe Review, a literary journal. He received the 2000 Distinguished Service Award for his leadership in efforts resulting in the issuance of a Thomas Wolfe US commemorative stamp.
Joseph S. Power, BBA, CRES
Former Vice President of Operations for Fisher Consulting Services, (retired Nov. 2009). Responsible for corporate operations for 13 field service personnel at various client hospital locations. Primary focus was support of Radiology, Cardiology, Ultrasound, CT, and MRI diagnostic medical imaging equipment service and sales support in lieu of typical vendor support contracts.
Former manager of Diagnostic Imaging Support Services (DISS) for Beaumont Services Company. Lead a team of medical imaging equipment repair specialists that provided service repair and maintenance to the $170 million in imaging equipment owned by Beaumont Hospitals Corporation. Responsible for in-sourcing maintenance services in Radiology, Radiation Oncology, Cardiovascular services and other clinical imaging areas. Provided technology strategies to imaging departments, counseling on appropriate technology investments and future trends in diagnostic imaging. Also provided supply chain management consulting to imaging departments, helping them determine best options to reduce life-cycle costs by consulting with management on future purchase acquisitions.
Former Electronics Instructor and lecturer for a national trade school for industrial electronics.
In a span of 45 + year career, attended over 70 conferences and seminars related to management and medical imaging equipment technology management. Earned an Associate Degree in Business Management from Macomb Community College, MI, a B.A. in Business Administration from Walsh College, MI and currently hold a certification as a CRES (Certified Radiology Equipment Specialist) from the ICC (International Certification Commission).
Riki-lee Santin, Maintenance Planning and Procurement Manager, Hiram Walker & Sons Limited
Riki-lee Santin is a graduate of Lawrence Tech University. She has obtained degrees successfully from three different post secondary institutions, St. Clair College; Mechanical Engineering Technology Automotive Product Design Option, Lawrence Technological University; Bachelor of Science in Engineering Technology (BScET) with honors, and the University of Windsor; Master’s of Business Administration (MBA.) In addition to her successful academic career I also worked full time while obtaining my BScET and MBA.
Riki-lee is the Manager of Maintenance Planning and Procurement at Hiram Walker & Sons Limited. As a manager of a diversified workforce, she has the ability to communicate and direct multiple personalities with various restrictions and abilities with great confidence. She directly reports to three maintenance supervisors with various engineering backgrounds, a maintenance planner, a senior buyer, and skilled trades specializing in Mechanical, Electrical, Pipe fitting/Welding, and Carpentry. Currently she directs, manage, and develop 5 salary personnel and 29 skilled trades personnel.
Jessie Swinea, Director of Research and Development, LumaSmart.
Jessie grew up in Alabama and moved to Michigan in 1953, where he studied electronics and started his career in the electronics industry. While attending the Electronics Institute of Technology in Detroit, MI, Jessie worked as an Electronics Technician at Multi-Elmac. After graduating from the Electronics Institute in 1957, Jessie worked at Chrysler Missile as a supervisor of ground support equipment for the Redstone and Jupiter Missile programs. While employed by Chrysler Missile, Jessie had the opportunity to work with accomplished engineers in the electronics and aerospace fields, such as Magnus Von Braun (brother of Werner Von Braun). Jessie also supplemented his education with various mathematics courses at Chrysler Institute.
In 1963 Jessie left Chrysler Missile to become Vice President at Detronics Industries in Oak Park, MI, where he started and grew Detronics’ electronics division. After three years at Detronics, Jessie formed his own company, Vultron Incorporated. Vultron steadily grew to become a leading supplier of electronic highway information systems. Jessie served as President of Vultron for 37 years.
After retiring in 2003, Jessie opened an electronics design and engineering service under the name Tanner Technology and Solutions. Over time, Jessie’s relationship with LumaSmart Technology developed into a full time position, and in 2009, Jessie was name Director of Research and Development at LumaSmart.
John Wisniewski, Building Operations and Administration Manager, Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago - Detroit Branch
Since 2007 John Wisniewski has held the position of Manger Building Operations and Administration for the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago - Detroit Branch. In this capacity he manages a 16 acre site with a 235,000 sq. ft. Federal Reserve Bank building in the city of Detroit. Prior to this position, he had an extensive career spanning 39 years working for DTE Energy in many different capacities ranging from architectural engineering to managing operating divisions to strategic planning to managing all real estate holdings for DTE Energy. As Director of Facilities he had responsibility for in excess of 100 locations consisting of over two million square feet of space in the state of Michigan.
John Wisniewski holds a bachelor of architecture degree from the University of Michigan and a master of business administration from the University of Detroit. He is a Certified Facility Manager having received CFM certification from IFMA. He also holds the FMA and RPA designations from BOMI. John Wisniewski is a project management professional holding the PMP certification from PMI.
John Wisniewski is a member of the Advisory Committee for the School of Engineering Technology at LTU. He formerly was an instructor at LTU in the area of project management. He has served on several non profit boards during his career. He is a native of Michigan, and has resided in southeast Michigan throughout his career.
