A few years after graduating from Oregon State University, Ms. Clarahan began her career in lighting design with a company in Farmington Hills, MI called Illuminating Concepts. After three years, she accepted a position with Illuminart & Fantasee Lighting in Ypsilanti MI, where she worked for several years.

With an interest in branching out on her own, Mollie started her own architectural lighting design company, Lumenations, Inc. in Ferndale, MI. In 2002 she accepted a Professional Membership with the International Association of Lighting Designers (IALD). After the arrival of her 2 adopted children and 10 years of a successful independent lighting design business, Ms. Clarahan closed down my office to focus her time on teaching lighting design.

A past President of the Michigan Section of the Illuminating Engineering Society (IES), Ms. Clarahan has been teaching the Lighting Component within the Integrated Design Studio 2 (IDS2) course at Lawrence Technological University for 11 years. She has also been the instructor for the senior level Advanced Lighting Design course for eight years. This semester, Mollie joins the Architectural Engineering program as the co-teacher of the new Electrical Systems 1: Lighting course on lighting & electrical systems.
