Using Zoom Spotlight

What is Spotlight

Zoom Spotlight 'pins' the video on the speaker (or whomever) you select as the primary speaker

Why use Spotlight

Zoom defaults to the active speaker in a Zoom session, so if you are lecturing and someone uses mic for question, Zoom 'cuts' to the active speaker's video and the Zoom video cuts back and forth to whomever is speaking

How to access Spotlight

If you want to focus on the 'keynote' speaker or just the instructor without these distracting back and forth active speaker cuts, as the host:

  • Open participant's icon
  • Click on the more button to the right of the desired name
  • Select Spotlight

To cancel the the spotlight, click " Cancel spotlight" on the top side of the screen to cancel
