Google Hangouts transitioned to a new app - Google Meet

Set up a Google Meet video conference from your LTU calendar

When you go to your LTU calendar to schedule an event, you will now see the option to "Add Google Meet video conferencing" (Adding a Zoom meeting is still an option - either select Zoom meeting or click on select "More Options")

Creating a calendar event

From LTU Calendar, open calendar create a new event

  • Select 'Add Google Meet video conferencing' 
  • The meeting ID information will display where you can copy join options
  • Click Save

Similarities / Differences (a few) between Google Meet and Zoom

  • Both provide for virtual synchronous meeting
  • Both allow screen sharing
  • Google Meet accessed from LTU email for 'quick' chat / session
  • Zoom allows for session recordings

Start or Join a Meeting

From your LTU email, on the right, you will now see Meet options
Join a meeting prompts you for a meeting code
Start a meeting takes you directly to a new session
