Therapy Services

Therapy services are provided to assist students who are experiencing things like: anxiety, depression, academic concerns, relationship issues, stress, minority stress or marginalization, identity development, sexual violence, adjustement to university life, family conflict, grief, organization and time management challenges, trauma, and more.  Most students meet individually for 45 minute appointments with the counselors.  If there is a request from students, counselors will offer group counseling.

Students interested in using our services should fill out our forms and schedule an initial appointment by clicking on this link:  Online Scheduling  You will meet with a counselor to determine your concerns and the best plan to meet your goals. Appointments are offered Monday - Friday between 9am-5pm.

Due to the demand for services, we cannot guarantee that students can receive frequent and regular (i.e. weekly or biweekly appointments). In some cases, we may suggest and help students find counselors outside of the university to better meet their needs.

Fall 2023
Drop In Wellness Group Fridays 9am

Every Friday interested students can meet for a walk with one of the therapy dogs.  The group will gather at the circle drive by the Tech Transit pick up spot and depart for a 2 mile walk around the exterior of the campus.  The group will depart promptly at 9:00am. Mindful walking practices and general wellness and mental health tips will be shared.  The walk will take between 30-50 minutes depending on the group's pace, but the group will stay together for the duration of the walk. In case of inclement weather we will meet at the Fieldhouse and walk on the track for 30 minutes.  If you have questions about the drop in wellness group email cschulze@ltu.edu

Consultation and Referral

Lawrence Tech faculty, staff, students and parents who have concerns about a student are encouraged to contact us. The clinicians are available to listen and can help develop a plan to assist the student of concern. The counselors follow confidentiality laws and cannot disclose whether a student is currently in treatment.

At times, a referral to an off-campus provider best serves the student's mental health needs.  We have partnered with MiResource to provide a listing of local clinicians.  Students may access this list on their own or after speaking with one of our staff.
