Ford Motor Company 2016 Corporate Partner of the Year

In recognition of the Ford Motor Company’s continued extraordinary service to and support of our students and mission, Lawrence Technological University selected Ford Motor Company as the 2016 Corporate Partner of the Year.

Ford and LTU’s partnership began 85 years ago with Henry and Edsel Ford’s support of Russell Lawrence’s vision for a university that offered working adults the opportunity to earn engineering degrees in evening classes. This innovative concept was launched on the site of the original Model T plant in Highland Park in 1932. Historically, Ford Motor Company has been the largest employer of LTU graduates with over 3,600 current and retired employees serving in nine operating units.

On Friday, May 13, over 110 LTU alumni working at Ford attended the presentation ceremony and unveiling of a video “Ford and Lawrence Tech: Partners in Success.” The video chronicles Ford and LTU’s decades-long relationship, and features remarks from LTU alumni employed by Ford, both past and present, as well as others among Ford’s leadership who play key roles in advancing our enduring industry/university partnership.

LTU’s Corporate Partners are a select group of companies that have demonstrated an extraordinary commitment to LTU’s educational mission by investing in academic programs, advancing applied research, creating career pathways for LTU students and alumni, and providing philanthropic support and service.
