Post Election Connection Virtual Workshop Series2020-12-03 18:00:00 2020-12-03 19:30:00 America/Detroit Post Election Connection Virtual Workshop Series Virtual firstname.lastname@example.org
Hosted by the Office of Student Engagement.
In these divided and isolated times, finding shared values and interests (regardless of political persuasion) is more important now than ever. Whether students have been working to Get Out the Vote, or feeling burnt out on politics and hiding from the TV, they need an outlet to reconnect with what matters. In this workshop series, students will have an opportunity to connect, de-stress, unplug from politics, and feel reassured that they can build community on campus regardless of the post-election political fallout.
• A session for people who need to vent and de-stress. Students will learn crucial resilience skills, including the ability to step back from automatic reactions and choose responses in the face of challenge and ambiguity.
• A session for people who want to celebrate. Discussions will focus on the place that celebration has in building resilience both individually and as a community, and how people can strengthen democracy and the country by celebrating shared wins around common values.
• A final session to bring everyone together to share takeaways from the first two sessions and model a constructive dialogue about next steps, including a plan to cultivate opportunities for bipartisan dialogue in the coming year on campus.
Registration is required.
