COBIT EXECUTIVE IN RESIDENCE Dr. Jamie Hsu

I am just like many people of my generation who went through higher education, immigrated to the USA, established a career, and raised a family. What made me a bit different might be the broad interests I had and the different types of careers I pursued.

I was born in China, grew up in Taiwan, and got my advanced degrees in USA. In my life with GM, I was involved in manufacturing development, product research, technology implementation, global partners collaboration, and strategy formulation. After the corporate c-suit life, I taught MBA and EMBA, and founded a few non-profits to serve the communities.

Throughout all these changes in my educational fields, job changes, cultural assimilation, and dealing with diverse people, I must continuously learn and adapt to changes. This gave me some insights in many aspects of life. I have been sharing such learning in my speeches, mentoring, and consulting work. I sincerely hope I can become better and better every day, and I can also make someone’s life better somehow.

I am currently specializing in Strategic Management, Leadership Development, Technology Management, Innovation, and Global Collaboration. Prior to this, I served as Executive Directors of General Motors (GM) Global Technology Management, R&D Centers, and Advanced Manufacturing Center.

I earned my Ph.D. and M.S. in Solid Mechanics from Brown University, and B. S. in Civil Engineering from National Taiwan University. I have served as leaders and advisors in many civic and technical organizations.

I am a frequent speaker and blog-writer on topics ranging from Career Development, Entrepreneurship, Eastern-Western Cultures, and Leadership. At my spare time, I enjoy golfing, jogging, and visiting the four grand children with my wife Tina.
