Implanted Endpad

Project Description

This project is a collaboration between the college of engineering and the college of business.  This is the first of its kind for Lawrence Tech.  This project is also in conjunction with a company called Advanced Amputee Solutions.  The CEO of the company, Gordon Maniere, has developed an idea that will help to improve the life of lower limb amputees.  Gordon is a certified prosthetist and has been around prosthetics all of his life.  This idea is an implantable endpad that will be placed at the end of the cut bone during surgery.  This device will act as a cushion and allow the patient to apply more body weight to the area.  By allowing more load to be applied toward the skeletal structure the patient will be in less pain and have a higher quality of life.
