The Humanities, Social Sciences, and Communication department is committed to combating illiteracy by engaging students in the masterworks of history, literature, and philosophy.

We believe in face-to-face contact, and our goal is to inspire and teach students how to think for themselves both critically and creatively. Students gain in Humanities courses the capacity for making sound judgments on the basis of valid information and the tools to be effective writers and speakers. Overall, our goal is prepare students for active and meaningful participation in their professions and in their communities.
