Tenure-track Faculty / Interior Design

You are bright, energetic, and looking for a position that rewards exploration and promotes thinking across boundaries. You are looking to lead the charge in the Interiors programs at Lawrence Technological University, which is focused on being an agile and entrepreneurial tech incubator. You are interested in reaching beyond the moment and into the future of materials, practice, technologies, human behavior, collaboration, and cross-disciplinary opportunities to bring our outstanding students into the design disciplines of Interior Design, Architecture, Product Design, Transportation Design, Game Design and Graphic Design. You have a deep interest in teaching, collaborative scholarship, and emerging technologies. You have a terminal degree in Interior Design, Architecture or Interior Architecture, have the potential of NCIDQ certification, and have experience in commercial design. You are able to demonstrate a combination of practice-based studio, as well as lecture-based teaching experience at the college level. You have an area of focus in addition to Interior Design that might include workplace strategy, healthcare, or human comfort. You are great at developing a creative professional network, and you would be excited to build a strong synergy between LTU and the Metro Detroit design scene. You will gain valor with each step accomplished, but are prepared to have the finish line moved forward following each successful mission.

Tenure-Track Faculty / Architecture

Candidates must hold a terminal degree in architecture from an accredited institution. Professional registration is desirable but not essential. Successful candidates will have a record of, or a clear agenda for, future peer-reviewed scholarly and/or creative work and a clear research or practice trajectory. The field of expertise is open, but the ideal candidate will have experience in secondary areas of knowledge ranging from representation or foundations of design to production techniques or ecological / sustainable concerns. We’re looking for candidates with future-focused approaches to research methods or studio-based design pedagogy. Experience in cross-disciplinary opportunities linking architectural knowledge to parallel design disciplines, such as interior design, industrial design, transportation design, game design, or graphic design, is preferred.

We’re looking for teachers and scholars with strong communication skills and a willingness to become actively involved in the functioning of the department, including academic advising, curriculum development, program assessment, and recruitment. Preference will be given to candidates demonstrating a combination of design studio and lecture/seminar-based teaching experience at the college level, and the ability to work with and promote a diverse student body.

Part-Time Adjunct / Lecturer Pool

The Department of Design in the College of Architecture and Design at Lawrence Technological University is seeking part-time/temporary instructors in these areas: Product Design, Transportation Design, Graphic Design, Interior Design, and Game Design.

Appointments from the part-time pool are per semester and often made just prior to the start of the academic term. Applicants must be available on short notice.
