Lawrence Tech revises interior design program, offers new degree

Lawrence Technological University has revised its interior design program, and this fall will begin offering a Bachelor of Science in Interior Design degree.

Specs Howard School of Media Arts to become part of Lawrence Technological University

Lawrence Technological University will become the new home of the Specs Howard School of Media Arts. Specs Howard has offered courses in radio and television broadcasting, graphic design, and digital media arts since 1970, and has graduated more than15,000 alumni in these fields.

LTU Graduates Michigans Youngest Male and Female Licensed Architects

Within the next few weeks Trent Schmitz and Kayla Tear, both of whom graduated from Lawrence Technological University with a Masters of Architecture on May 8th, will become the states youngest male and female licensed architects respectively. This is thanks to both student's participation in Lawrence Tech’s Integrated Path to Licensure program, through which students can complete their required internship and take all exams while earning their degree - an initiative that is only offered in 18 other universities nationwide.

Unique LTU program graduates Michigan's youngest licensed architect at age 23

Trent Schmitz, 23, graduated from Lawrence Technological University May 8 with a Master of Architecture degree, a requirement for licensing as a professional architect. And sometime in the next few weeks, Schmitz, of Southfield, will become the youngest licensed architect in the state of Michigan, and possibly the youngest in the country.

CoAD Faculty Member Receives Silver Award in International Competition

Unsold Studio - the design agency co-founded by LTU faculty member Lillian Crum and partner Meaghan Barry - recently received a silver award in the technology category from Indigo Awards for their branding work for Citizens Robotics. Indigo Awards is a prestigious internationally recognized design competition.

LTU Students Receive Scholarships from Flint AIA

Congratulations to current Lawrence Tech student Trent Schmitz as well as incoming freshmen Emma Trisch and Ashton Heglas for receiving the 2020 Donald E. Lee Scholarship from the American Institute of Architecture’s Flint chapter. LTU students received three of the five awards given in 2020.  

This award is open to all current and prospective students enrolled in an NAAB accredited architecture program. You can learn more about this program, or apply for a 2021 award here.

 How and to what effects is prototyping a mode of inquiry in humanities research and teaching? In this talk, I survey examples across labs and classrooms and then attend to one project in particular: "Remaking the Reading Optophone" at the University of Victoria (UVic).

Former CoAD Faculty Member Recieves Gold Award from ESD

Long-time CoAD faculty member Janice Means is the newest recipient of the Gold Award presented by the Engineering Society of Detroit, which recognizes those who have displayed dedication and outstanding contributions to the fields of science and engineering.

LTU Grad Tiffany Brown Named New NOMA Executive Director

The National Organization of Minority Architects has recently named CoAD Alumni Tiffany Brown as its new Executive Director citing her prior leadership on both local and national NOMA Boards as well as her expertise and contributions to the field of Architecture in making their final decision.

The spring semester at Lawrence Technological University begins January 19 with face-to-face classes and, on January 20, a reflection on the legacy and ideals of Martin Luther King Jr.
