College of Architecture and Design
Nicole Tischler makes things. She has a BFA in graphic design from Lawrence Technological University and a Masters degree in architecture from the University of British Columbia in Vancouver. Her architectural focus is on the proliferation of co-housing and the use of ‘tall’ timber construction methods. She is also interested in the psychology of representation and how the mind processes design.
Since returning to Detroit she has been gaining experience towards licensure by working at small firms such as et al. Collaborative, ThreeSquared, and Iannuzzi Studio. Paper pulp, wood, plaster, and textiles are some of the materials she has been experimenting with. She continues a ballet and violin practice inspired by her interest in Vaudeville performances and theatrics generally.
