Curriculum Vitae (CV)

Jenna Reed Walker

Director, Interior Design and College Professor
Department of Design

Jenna Walker is a Detroit-based design professional and professor of practice. She received her MS in Historic Preservation Planning, with an emphasis in Community Revitalization from Eastern Michigan University and previously received her BS in Interior Design from Western Michigan University.

Jenna draws inspiration from the study and practice of spaces that support and shape human behavior. From communities and neighborhoods down to the individual buildings in which we live, work and experience life, these spaces create place—and our experiences in these places become an integral part of who we are. With over a decade of diverse education and studio experience, she has experience in interior architectural design, sustainable methods, heritage and community revitalization efforts in markets including retail, hospitality, entertainment, workplace, higher education, K-12, healthcare and residential.  This diverse educational and studio experience continuously informs her distinctive design approach.

She is the founder of PLACE, a collaborative consultancy for design, strategy and research of the interior built environment. Prior experience includes brand advocacy and workplace strategy for Knoll, Inc., senior positions with area architecture + design firms, and serving as one of the founding team members for Olympia Development’s District Detroit.  She is an active member of CREW Detroit and holds certifications including National Council for Interior Design Qualification, Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design, and The Center for Health Design’s Evidence-Based Design Accreditation and Certification.
