Assistant Professor of Practice (full-time, annual contract) or Tenure-track Faculty in Interior Design

You are bright, energetic, and looking for a position that rewards exploration and promotes thinking across boundaries. You are looking to lead the charge in the Interiors programs at Lawrence Technological University, which is focused on being an agile and entrepreneurial tech incubator. You are interested in reaching beyond the moment and into the future of materials, practice, technologies, human behavior, collaboration, and cross-disciplinary opportunities to bring our outstanding students into the design disciplines of Interior Design, Architecture, Product Design, Transportation Design, Game Design and Graphic Design. You have a deep interest in teaching, collaborative scholarship, and emerging technologies. You are able to demonstrate a combination of practice-based studio, as well as lecture-based teaching experience at the college level. You have an area of focus in addition to Interior Design that might include workplace strategy, healthcare, or human comfort. You are great at developing a creative professional network, and you would be excited to build a strong synergy between LTU and the Metro Detroit design scene. You will gain valor with each step accomplished, but are prepared to have the finish line moved forward following each successful mission.

We’re looking for teachers and scholars with strong communication skills and a willingness to become actively involved in the functioning of the department, including academic advising, curriculum development, program assessment, and recruitment. Tenure-track applants are expected to maintain an active record of scholarship or creative activities.


Required Minimum Qualifications

1. Terminal Professional degree in area of knowledge (BFA, BSc)
2. Minimum of 8-years professional experience in the teaching area with documented evidence (portfolio and C.V. or resume)

Preferred Qualifications

1. Terminal degree in Interior Design, Architecture or Interior Architecture (required for Tenure-Track role)
2. Demonstrated success as a performer and teacher
3. Have the potential of NCIDQ certification

Adjunct Professors: Interior Design, Product/Industrial Design, Graphic Design

The Department of Art and Design in the College of Architecture and Design, Lawrence Technological University are seeking part-time/temporary instructors in the areas of Interior Design (design studio, Interiors history), Product/Industrial Design (physical prototyping), and Graphic Design (graphic foundations, type, photography).


Primary Duties and Responsibilities

1. Adjunct instructor assigned to delier course material within a classroom setting
2. Technological aptitude is a requirement with the need to navigate digital learning systems and hybrid teaching models
3. Course structuring and delivery, assessment submission (if applicable)
4. Additional duties on a per course need

Required Minimum Qualifications

2. Minimum of 5-years professional experience in the teaching area with documented evidence (portfolio and C.V. or resume)
3. Advanced Professional degree (Masters) in area of knowledge
