The Southfield City Municipal Center is home to the City Parks and Recreation Department, an outdoor swimming pool, tennis courts, sand volleyball courts, an ice and sports arena, Police Department and a state-of-the-art public library. All these are less than a mile from the LTU campus. Sports

Detroit is known for its sports teams. Professional basketball, baseball, football, hockey – Detroit has it all.

The Detroit Pistons basketball team plays  at Little Caesars Arena in downtown Detroit.

he Detroit Tigers and Detroit Lions play at Comerica Park and Ford Field, located next to each other and very near to Little Caesars Arena.

As close neighbors of Canada, Detroiters have always been ice hockey fans. Detroit is not only Motown, it is also Hockeytown. The Detroit Red Wings also play downtown at Little Caesars Arena. Soccer fans can watch the Detroit City Football Club play at Keyworth Stadium in Hamtramck.

Metropolitan Detroit is a hub for culture and the arts. With renowned institutions like the  Detroit Institute of Arts , Motown Historical Museum , Detroit Historical Society , and Belle Isle Conservancy  there is always something to do in the area.

If you're looking for fun weekend excursions, The Henry Ford (Henry Ford Museum of American Innovation, Greenfield Village and the Ford Rouge Factory Tour) offers unique, interactive insight into American history and culture. There is also the Detroit Zoo , just five miles from LTU's campus.
